Advertising Standards Agency Slaps wrists of Ainsworths Homeopathic Pharmacy

Homeopathetic medicine is one of the many things in this world that truly irritates me. Practitioners of this kind of woowaa are high up on my list of "people the world could do without" which as it happens is rather long and seems to be growing faster that I can type.
Imagine my glee, well not so much glee more a smug little smirk, when I came across this little gem
ASA Adjudication on Ainsworths

Obviously this doesn't stop the sale of well packaged water or sugar pills to the clinically gullible but it is a bit of a slap on the wrists for these woowaa merchants.

Louise Mensch Slams Knob Jockey Journalist

Well done to Louise Mensch for putting David Jones Investigative Journalists in their place with a rather amusing retort to an arsey letter.

I find most of what passes for news abhorrent to say the least, the fame culture fascination that has infected our papers leaves me sneering with distaste whenever I happen to come across any such rag. They could at least make the paper softer so I could wipe my arse on the 3am girls faces.

Turn the pink cute factor up to 12 captain

After watching this and wondering if my morning coffee had been laced with high strength LSD I couldn't help watching it again as I couldn't quite believe it.

Tripped out psychedelic farts and one eyed singing skulls fight for your retinal attention while a sinister looking faceless goon in a romper suits bounces up and down to this annoyingly catchy song.

I wish I could hate it, I really do but I can't. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80s and I have a strange fascination with odd looking CGI and flashing images or maybe it's because I'm a git and I know full well that some of you will hate it and that, in itself, brings me joy.

Yes to Life, No to woowaa

For the love of all that is right and decent in the world this place needs closing down
Yes To Life
Call it complementary or integrative but it still add up to dangerous proponents of woowaa wasting money on utter nonsense.

“YES TO LIFE is a new charitable initiative to open up a positive future for people with cancer in the UK by supporting an integrative approach to cancer care”

Lets not fanny around here, Integrative in this instance means bullshit, their claims about Gerson Therapy would be laughable if it wasn't so damn scary

Cancer Research UK says
"Overall, there is no evidence to show that Gerson therapy works as a cure for cancer. "
"Available scientific evidence does not support claims that Gerson therapy can treat cancer. It is not approved for use in the United States. Gerson therapy can be very harmful to your health. Coffee enemas have been linked to serious infections, dehydration, constipation, colitis (inflammation of the colon), and electrolyte imbalances. In some people, particular aspects of the diet such as coffee enemas have been thought to be responsible for their death."

Sense at last in Texas

Could this be a turning point for common sense?

http://ncse.com/news/2011/07/victory-evolution-texas-006802

I understand that for some people belief is hard to shake, even in light of insurmountable evidence to the contrary. This decision by The Texas Board of Education has made this grumpy old cynic a tiny bit happier today
